ANAFRIC meets with a senior post of the Ministry of Agriculture of Japan to promote exports of beef

On Thursday, December 6, the representatives of ANAFRIC, Moisés Argudo (Frimancha), Antonio Jové (Miguel Vergara and Olot Meats), accompanied by the president of ANAFRIC, Josep Friguls, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of International Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture of Japan, Hiromishi Matsushima, in which they addressed the issue of exports of Spanish beef to Japan.

During the meeting with the representative of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, the members of ANAFRIC highlighted the enormous importance of the visit that this week they carried out a group of Japanese inspectors. The visit has the aim of approving the protocol of the pre-listed system, so that the Japanese authorities delegate in Spanish the power to authorize companies to export and establish the list of establishments authorized to export beef to Japan.

This visit, under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), with the collaboration of PROVACUNO, is of great importance to the sector to be able to open the Japanese market in our meat beef. Actually Japan does not recognize the European Union as a single market for meat, and therefore trade in meat products is regulated by bilateral agreements, says ANAFRIC representative Antonio Jové.

This meeting took place within the framework of the annual General Assembly of the UECBV (European Union of Livestock and Meat Trade), which was held in Brussels and which encompasses the national federations representing the livestock trade sectors and meat of the bovine, equine, ovine and porcine species, as well as those of the meat industries (slaughterhouses and cutting rooms).
