3.7 million in aid for animal welfare for cattle in Cantabria

The Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC) publishes today the extract of the order of the Ministry of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and the Environment calling for animal welfare aid for the year 2022, for a total amount of 3.7 million euros, which are co-financed between the Government of Cantabria, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (FEADER) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The owners of cattle farms located in Cantabria and registered in the General Registry of Livestock Farms of the Autonomous Community as production/reproduction may apply for the aid.

All bovine animals are eligible except for those belonging to the threatened local breeds–tudanca, monchina and pasiega– and the amount of the aid will be 51 euros per unit

To be a beneficiary, it is required to be an active farmer; Only applications for aid with a minimum number of premium units of four large livestock units per applicant will be accepted; comply with the relevant conditionality requirements for animal welfare and current regulations on animal health, production hygiene and identification and registration of farms; not have been sanctioned in the three years prior to the end of the application submission period, and be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations.

Applications must be submitted in the application of the Aid Management System electronically, signed electronically, until next May 25.
