Brexit: Problems for meat exports from the United Kingdom to the EU

The British Association of Meat Processors has launched an alert for the delays that meat exports from that country to the EU are suffering at the border and that are already causing serious and sustained losses for companies. The BMPA claims that it is receiving a growing number of calls from meat companies warning of the administrative difficulties that are being presented to them. Also remember that every hour that a truckload of meat is delayed increases the possibility that that order will be reduced in price, canceled and returned or, in the most serious cases, discarded and ended up in a landfill.

The new post-Brexit customs system for meat products is complicated, archaic and poorly implemented, they explain from the BMPA. At best, it’s causing delays for simple single-product loads, but at worst, it’s meant bundled loads are no longer feasible to ship.
