Carrefour France will demand to install video surveillance cameras in the abattoirs of its suppliers

In France, Carrefour has been the first distributor that asks its suppliers to equip their slaughterhouses facilities with video cameras, in order to reinforce the controls already carried out in the field of animal welfare. For this, a first pilot test will be carried out at the Cooperl cooperative in their slaughter facilities.

The French distribution company is very sensitive and committed to the issue of animal welfare. In this sense, an audit campaign is underway at all abattoirs from its suppliers. Altogether 84 and they are been realized from the end of 2018 and will continue during the present year.

These audits are based on the specifications made by the OABA Association (Assistance for Animal Abattoir) based on animal protection referrals, and will be carried out by the auditing company Bureau Veritas.
