Leading pig producer Muyuan Foods is building the world’s largest pig farm. This is a multi-million dollar and risky investment, considering the persistence of African swine fever and the devastating effects it had on China’s pig production.
The new pig farm being built in China began to be built in March and began operations in September with the first of the 21 modules that make up the complex.
It will house 84,000 sows and is approximately 10 times the size of a typical rearing facility in the United States. Their goal is to produce around 2.1 million pigs a year.
