France and Spain coordinate their efforts to face the crisis due to COVI-19 in agricultural matters

France and Spain want to study in depth the measures and proposals to face the coronavirus crisis in the agricultural and fishing sectors. “The management of this exceptional crisis must be coordinated at the European level”, stated the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, together with his French counterpart, Didier Guillaume.

They have called on the European Commission to implement crisis management measures for the aforementioned sectors and recalled that it is possible to resort to instruments that already exist within the framework of the common organization of agricultural markets of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

In addition, they considered that an application of the CAP adapted to the exceptional nature of this crisis must be carried out, facilitating the continuity of support for the agricultural sector in the different Member States.
