From Farm to fork and its paradoxes: Paradox 7. Employment

A farm guarantees, on average, the work of 7 people in rural areas. Livestock is essential to maintain employment in rural areas.

Without farms, the depopulation of rural areas would be accentuated in addition to losing many job opportunities.

The European livestock sector wishes to enter into a constructive dialogue with the EU institutions to ensure greater participation in the legislative process of the strategy aimed at guiding EU agri-food policies in the coming decades.

 

 

The sector represents around 40% of the entire European agricultural sector for a value of 170,000 million euros with 4 million employees. What we need is for the European Union to implement policies that allow the sector to make the necessary changes to maintain our European model.
