From the Farm to the Fork and its paradoxes. Paradox, 9. Food security

With the covid crisis19, the issue of food supplies has returned to the table. Suddenly, we have all been more vulnerable. According to the FAO, in the next 30 years we should feed about 2 billion MORE people.

In addition, by 2050, about 70% of the world’s population will live in cities and urban areas. Only a minimum percentage of the population should be in charge of agriculture and livestock.

What would happen then, if livestock and agriculture continue to be reduced?

1.- We would have less food to take to our table.

2.- Social chaos would be generated.

The debate between sustainability and food is generating a wave of feelings that does not benefit any of the parties at all. ONLY SCIENCE can help us to understand how we need to organize ourselves globally to provide sustainable livestock and guarantee FOOD FOR EVERYONE.
