Luis Planas rules out a food shortage

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has assured that, despite the growth in inflation, “there will be no shortages. The problem we have is prices and not only in Spain, but in the European Union.”

The head of Agriculture has shown his concern about the evolution of the prices of food and beverages and has said that the objective is “to limit this increase in prices”, although he has clarified that it is “complicated” and that the rest of the European countries is on the same line.

In this regard, the minister stressed that the package of measures adopted by the Government “has managed to curb the increase in inflation by three and a half points”. “Obviously, we are following the situation very closely because it is very complicated,” he added.

It should be remembered that the inflation rate stands at 10.2%, the highest increase in 37 years.
