Meat exports outside the EU have different behaviors, although there is a downward trend

The drop in sales of pork meat and derivatives to China explains the 27% reduction in the amount of meat exported by Spain outside the EU during the first two months of 2022. Despite this, the data presented by Eurocarne on their website, they also explain that in the face of the reduction, Spanish sheepmeat exports outside the EU have grown by 31% to 5,514 t in January and February.

For the Eurocarne portal, China continues to be the main buyer of Spanish meat and meat products with 121,352 tons between January and February, far from the 324,557 tons of 2021.

Faced with this reduction, the rest of the destinations have imported more Spanish product:

  • The Philippines has gone from 25,269 tons in 2021 to 37,895 tons in 2022.
  • South Korea has grown to 37,339 t
  • Japan up to 33,791 t
