Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, declared a state of alarm in Spain due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19. The freedom of movement of people was limited and containment measures were also decreed in the field of commercial activity, cultural facilities, recreational establishments and activities, and hotel and restaurant activities. Faced with this perspective, the livestock sector has led to a decrease in turnover, which stopped selling their products through the usual marketing channels, mainly those linked to restaurants, tourism and collective canteens.
Faced with this situation, the Generalitat has made a new call to ensure that agricultural producers of perishable products have sufficient liquidity and can preserve the continuity of economic activity as a result of the health crisis of COVID-19.
There is a budget allocation of one million euros and three dates for the presentation of the required documentation in deliveries made between May 20, 2020 and May 25, 2021:
- First deadline: the application submission period begins on January 21 and ends on February 1, 2021.
- Second deadline: the application submission period begins on April 7 and ends on April 16, 2021.
- Third deadline: the application submission period begins on May 17 and ends on May 26, 2021.
About meat producers:
Beef, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits and poultry, fresh milk and dairy products, and eggs, that meet the health and marketing requirements established by the applicable sector regulations. The carcasses must comply with the maximum weights established in Annex 4 of the Resolution.
For meats, it is necessary that the animals are born and fattened in farms located in Catalonia. In the case of bovines that were not born on these farms, it is necessary that they have been fattened in Catalan farms for a minimum of 4 months.
Deadlines for submission:
For deliveries to the Banc dels Aliments realitzats between the period between May 20, 2020 and the application date, the submission begins from January 21 to February 1.
