Spanish requests for private storage of sheep and cattle grow

The FEGA (Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund) has reported requests for private storage procedures in accordance with the latest process opened in the face of losses registered by the sheep and cattle sectors due to the closure of the HORECA channel by COVID-19.

According to the data released by the entity, in the case of sheep, 108,495 kg have been requested throughout the European Union and the requests come from Castilla y León. Some 120,000 kg come from sheep meat stored for 120 days and for this they will receive aid of 103,920 euros. There is also another quota of 5,000 kg at 150 days that will receive 4,575 euros, according to the Cárnica magazine.

Regarding beef, the application is more distributed among Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Galicia and the Community of Madrid, adding 108,000 kg for a total amount of aid of 109,964 euros.

In beef, throughout the EU the quantity requested for storage amounts to 1,209 t and the country with the largest quantity of product has allocated it is Poland with 431,000 kg, followed by the Netherlands with 206,000 kg.
