As a consequence of the situation generated by the SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus) alarm state, the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat de Catalunya has prepared certain instructions related to exceptional measures with respect to the livestock sector and related activities. This section specifies the exceptional measures adopted in the field of the livestock movement, animal health and livestock production.
The BOE has published an order of the Council of Ministers that establishes exceptions in the transport of live animals during the period of the health alert generated by the coronavirus COVID-19.
Despite the economic, service and transport stoppage, the threat of Covid-19 has further strengthened the meat sector. The Council of Ministers has given the green light to the first tranche of 20,000 million euros in the line of public guarantees for loans to companies as part of the 100,000 million that it approved last week to combat the devastating economic effects of the coronavirus. The State will guarantee 80% of loans to self-employed workers and SMEs, for which 10,000 million of that first tranche has been reserved. For the rest of the companies, the guarantee will be 70% in new loans and 60% in renewals.

Agricultural, livestock and aquaculture production, as well as fishing activity, transformation of agricultural and fishery products, veterinary centers or clinics, transport and distribution of food, as well as its commercialization through retail sales to consumers, form the food supply chain whose activity must be guaranteed in the state of alarm. This implies that the activity of agri-food companies as a whole, including agricultural, livestock, aquaculture and fishing activities, must be maintained, but also that of the companies that, in turn, supply them with the necessary inputs for their operation.
The Ministry of Industry agrees to temporarily suspend the obligation to pass the ITV of vehicles while the Decree of declaration of alarm status remains in force.
