The consumption of fresh pork meat in Spanish households grows more than 8%

During the first six months of the year, the consumption of fresh pork in Spain has increased by 8.31% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the latest INTERPORC data.

Specifically, of the 1.63 million tonnes of meat consumed (chicken, pork, beef, and sheep / goats) in Spanish households, 488,900 tonnes were pork. In the same period, the consumption of processed products also increased, up to 5.97%, with more than 457,000 tons consumed.

These data, they point out from the Interprofessional, “show that white-coated pigs are responding to consumers, who demand, with increasing demand, healthier and more elaborate products that address the welfare of animals and the environment.”
