The EC agrees to raise the requirements for products imported from third countries

This was stated by the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Janusz Wojciechowski during his visit to Spain, in which he agreed with the Spanish Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, on the need to raise the requirements they ask for products imported from third countries. Both Minister Luis Planas and the European Commissioner agree on the need to raise the requirements that are asked of products imported from third countries.

The Law on the Food Chain, recently remodeled in Spain, has not been left behind, and which has been valued by the commissioner to the point that he is willing to propose directives to harmonize its application in the rest of the European countries, guided by the Spanish regulations.

The crisis of the field

The minister also took advantage of the meeting to ask the Commission to coordinate a common response to the problem of rising production costs suffered by the agricultural sector.

He has pointed out to the commissioner that the solution to this problem “cannot be only national” and the European Commission “can and must play a leading role in coordinating these responses”.
