The EC launches an online information system for food labeling

The European Commission has launched the Food Labeling Information System (FLIS), which will provide an easy-to-use IT tool, allowing its users to select a food and then automatically retrieve the mandatory labeling indications from the EU in 23 EU languages. The system will cover 87 different categories of food.

It is designed to help food business operators (EEA) identify the mandatory labeling indications that must appear on their products.

Its objective is to improve the correct application of the relevant legislation by the EEA and facilitate the work of the national enforcement authorities. It will also help provide clear information to consumers and help them make informed food choices.
