The pig census in Spain grows 3% over the last year

The data provided by the MAPA Statistics Service shows a census growth of 3% in reference to May 2020 compared to the same month in 2019. The figure already reaches 31.37 million animals. It should be noted that a drop of 1.5% in the number of piglets and at that time there were 5.3% more pigs on fattening.

By autonomous communities, the rise of 11.5% in the total census of animals in Aragon stands out, which already reached 8.69 million pigs in May and in the Region of Murcia, which added 10.8% more.

Navarra is also close to a growth of 10%. Faced with the increases, it is noteworthy the decrease of 15.8% in Extremadura that remains with 1.18 million animals.
