The world meat market will grow in 2021 according to Rabobank

After a year marked by uncertainty, the global animal protein industry is expected to grow again, looking for opportunities. The recently published Rabobank Global Animal Protein Outlook 2021 anticipates production growth in most regions in 2021, along with an outlook marked by opportunities and risks.

Pork production is expected to grow faster than other species in 2021, largely due to the recovery from African swine fever (ASF) in China and Vietnam. Poultry and aquaculture are also forecast to grow, following the COVID-19 disruptions in 2020. Beef is expected to return to modest growth next year, led by increases in North America and Brazil.

In terms of world trade, the US-China relationship and the trade outcome of Brexit are the top trade issues for 2021.
